Meet Kay-Annie
9 Beaches Wedding & Events Manager

Kay-Annie Reid-Young, a Jamaican national, has been planning weddings and events for 11 years.  She joined 9 Beaches in 2007 and already has planned more than 20 weddings at the resort.

9 Beaches provides a stunningly beautiful backdrop for that special day in couples' lives.  Kay-Annie helps couples determine how to make their 9 Beaches' wedding unique for them.  "But what is most memorable for me about the weddings I have planned for 9 Beaches are the stories of the couples themselves," says Kay Annie.  "Whilst all the weddings that I do are memorable for their own unique reasons, there are some that stay with you in memory and become references every time I speak."

One couple vacationed here last year and during their stay endured an accident.  While the groom stayed by his beloved's side in the hospital on the island through her recovery, he proposed to her and they decided to return to 9 Beaches for their wedding

Another couple, who was Armenian, had planned their wedding at 9 Beaches.  A week before the wedding, the groom's brother, also his best man, was suddently unable to attend. The couple decided to go ahead with their plans because that was what the groom's brother wanted.  The couple had become so fond of Kay-Annie through the process that they asked her to propose a toast to commemorate the groom's side of the family in the Armenian tradition.  This was a first in all her career!

One wedding included a lineage of brides whose names were embroidered around the edge of a veil that was more than 100 years old. The wedding was beautiful because all of the generations of brides were in attendance to witness the final threads that were to be stitched to the veil with the present bride's name and a photo added to the album that carried on the story of the veil for their generations.

Prior to joining 9 Beaches, Kay-Annie had become one of the most sought after wedding planners in the Cayman Islands.  She has been featured on the Travel Channel's "Weddings Away" series, as well as Destination Cayman magazine and several bridal publications.

She began her career in the hospitality industry working for one the Caribbean's most renowned 5-star hotel chains where she played an integral part in the conception, planning, design, coordination, production, execution and management of all things entertainment, for a worldwide demographic. During her tenure she was awarded a scholarship to study Event Management at George Washington University in Washington D.C., where she gained her certification.  She then dedicated herself full-time as a wedding consultant and events planner.
