Bermuda is a parliamentary British overseas territory with internal self-government. You will need your passport to enter Bermuda and you will need to go through Customs. The primary language spoken in Bermuda is English.
Location and Time Zone:
Bermuda is located in the Atlantic Ocean 545 miles east of
South Carolina. It is a relatively small subtropical island
(actually it's 138 coral islands and inlets) with low hills
and beautiful ocean views everywhere. Bermuda time (Atlantic
time) is one hour ahead of New York time (Eastern Standard
time).
Weather
Bermuda has a sub-tropical climate. Mean temperatures in Bermuda during winter are in the high 60's/low 70's and in the high 70's/low 80's in the summer. Bermuda does get warm and tropical in summer making it perfect beach weather. Spring and fall are mild enough to stroll about quite comfortably in shorts and even enjoy the beach. It is cooler in winter, thought the warm waters of the Gulf Stream keep Bermuda temperate even as the days get shorter, perfect for your golf vacation or escape from snow.
Currency
The Bermudian dollar is the official currency. It is equivalent
to the U.S. dollar - they trade at par, so $1 Bermuda dollar
is equal to $1 US dollar. However, there is no need to exchange
currency as both are readily accepted throughout the island.
Most major credit cards are accepted throughout the island
Transportation
Due to its small size, Bermuda does not allow rental cars. There is excellent bus transportation and taxi service available. For independent souls, motor scooter rental is the way to go. But remember, DRIVE LEFT, AND STAY LEFT!
