Best Beaches in the Dominican Republic
Dry and Sandy Beaches in the Dominican Republic are Beaches where you can run, or walk for miles without being bombarded with water from the ocean. These Beaches are perfect for those who love open spaces and fresh air as well as swimming and relaxing.
The crowd is usually not very dense so privacy is not an issue when choosing a spot to sunbathe. Usually, the sand on these Beaches is powdery and good quality, but it may be too hot during midday. If that’s what you prefer then go ahead, otherwise avoid these Beaches because they get extremely hot at midday! Check out some of the dry Beaches below:
One of the Domincan Republic’s most well known beaches, Bávaro Beach is a must if you’re travelling to this country. Located on the North East of the island in Punta Cana, this beach is commonly regarded as one of the best in the world
What makes it so? Well, it has all the ingredients necessary to be considered great. The soft white sand combined with the aqua turquoise water is pretty perfect, and the whole beach is typically very clean. For those that struggle with too much Sun, there’s also plenty of palm trees to catch some shade here too.
Even though this beach is well known, it’s quite large so you can usually find a spot that’s pretty quiet. The main reason for you to come to this beach is for the views, which are some of the best on the island. It’s also a good beach to go for a casual swim, too.
Another beach which is commonly found on many of the top lists of beaches around the world is Playa Rincón, and it deserves to be there too.
This beach is a little hard to get to, as it’s still an hours drive away from the closest large town of Samana. However, it’s definitely worth the extra effort getting there. The beach itself is around 3 miles long, so there’s plenty of room here for everyone, although it’s still quite secluded.
If you’re looking for a place to snorkel, then this probably isn’t the best area – the water isn’t too rough, but there are plenty of waves here too. For this reason, it’s a good place to go for a swim, but the water is not as calm as other areas around the island.
Many of the most popular beaches in the world are near resorts, though there’s very little development around Playa Rincon. There are still a few good places where you can grab something to eat, though! Overall, this might not only be the best beaches in the Dominican, but in the world!
A tiny island off the North-east coast of the Dominican Republic, Cayo Levantado is very easy to fall in love with. Sometimes referred to as Bacardi Island, the white sand beach here is one of the best in the area.
One of the best things about Cayo Levantado is it’s amazing views, and it offers some of the best sunsets you’ll see in the Dominican. You can come here to stay at the resort, but some people prefer to just come via a boat tour, which will likely stop at the island for a few hours.
It’s an ideal choice for those looking to take a more private vacation, and the resort on the island is pretty good too. Nice food, amazing views and a whole ocean to swim in – what more could you want from an island?
The North side of the island really is home to some amazing beaches, and further West from Samana along the North coast of the island you’ll find Playa Dorada.
This is a pretty common destination for holiday companies, so you should be able to find some good deals on flights here pretty easily. There are more than 12 different resorts here along the coast, so you should be able to find somewhere to stay quite easily, no matter what you’re looking for. The local Puerta Plata airport is only a 20 minute taxi away from the beach.
The beach itself is pretty amazing, and it’s always maintained and kept clean too. It’s also a very long beach, and if you want to walk all the way along it will take you a little under an hour to do so. As you’d expect, it has the beautiful blue sea and the sand is pure white.
A popular reason people choose to come to this location is the activities that you can do here – it’s a pretty popular area to go scuba diving. The sea here is quite calm, which makes it the perfect place to relax and waste the day away.
Boca Chica Beach
Boca Chica Beach, or Playa Boca Chica, is located on the South side of the country. It’s actually not too far from Santo Domingo center, where you can drive between the two in about 30 minutes. This makes it a pretty popular destination for those looking to get out of the capital, especially on the weekend. So whilst the vibes here are still relaxed, it can get extremely busy.
The sea down here is clear and very calm, and there’s a good range of water activities for you to do to, including renting a kayak out for the day. There’s also a lot of really great diving tours in this area too.
Aside from the beach, another one of the main reasons to visit Boca Chica is the amazing range of foods that you can try down here, especially the local ones. So if you’re looking for a good combination of a relaxing beach and nice restaurants, then Boca Chica would be a good destination for you.
All in all, there are so many different beaches in the Caribbean for you to visit that it can be pretty difficult to know where to even begin. With the North coast having some of the best beaches in the country, this is the most popular place for most folks to visit. However, if you get the chance, then you’ll want to visit more of this country.
